A BUSINESS MODEL TO END SLAVERY?

We’re excited to share our birthday with a new initiative from Not For Sale. REBBL will be a national bottled tea brand specifically designed to help combat slavery and create alternatives. Join the Road to REBBL and help NFS launch this exciting initiative.

Visiting San Francisco?

I have a friend who is making plans to visit my wonderful city. I thought my email was too good to keep private—wanted to share it with y’all:)

First of all, this is a local website that we all use to find good restaurants, hidden activities, etc:
Some things I would do/explore are:
1.) Fisherman’s wharf, Ghirardelli (if you go into the shop/cafe, they’ll give you a free chocolate!)
2.) Boudin Bakery is the birthplace of sourdough. Instead of eating there, go upstairs and do the $2 tour. It actually gives you a really succinct and perfect history of SF. It’s my favorite “museum” of the city!
2.) Walk up Lombard St. (the famous winding road)
3.) Take a cable car ride (you can even pick up at Union Square!). It’s about $6 for adults, not sure about kids.
4.) Walk through the farmers market in the Ferry Building on the weekends.
5.) Tacos in the Mission (a neighborhood known for its hipster crowd and good Mexican food!)
6.) A walk up Coit Tower (it overlooks Sausalito and the bay!). Walking up the hill to the tower is the fun part. If you want to actually go up the tower, I think it’s a bit expensive (~$10/person), so I’ve never gone:)
7.) Ride bikes or check out the house boats in Sausalito, and then go to the Marine Mammal Center on the way home!
8.) Golden Gate Park! It’s our SF pride and joy. There are so many wonderful parts about it: there’s a carousel, Japanese tea gardens and several great museums with ice cream carts near them.
To everyone else, consider this your open invitation to come visit!

If you follow me in any type of digital/social/analog capacity, you may have noticed I’ve been a bit quiet lately.
No, I did not win an exclusive 5-day cruise with the Obamas.
What has happened has been arguably better. In the past week, major life transition has come my way: Beth and I moved into a new apartment (more on that next week), and more importantly, I started on a new team!
I saved the news until today for a special reason. Exactly one year ago at this hour I was moving my 5 pieces of luggage into our beloved aha airstream and getting ready to re-embark on another grand adventure. One year ago. Twelve months.

Yet I feel 700 days older and wiser than last year. I’m more laser-focused on my direction in life. As a leader, I’ve learned how to roll with the punches (and when to punch). And city life has hardened me ever so slightly; any lingering fears of conflict are pretty much gone.
The past two years were a wonderful season in my life, working alongside some of my favorite people. I am a product of working with Brittany and Andy; of working with Jon and Todd; Meg and B.; Lauren and Len; of working with Gary, Dave, Kait, Nat and Ben.

But what’s next?
In a crazy whirlwind of events, I have embarked on a new and exciting adventure at Not For Sale! Not For Sale works to end modern-day slavery through work on the ground, work in supply chains, and through upcoming developments. I’m excited and honored to play a part. Starting Monday, I began weaving into the wonderful NFS tapestry as their marketing and communications director. I feel so blessed to spin my creative wheels towards something I care so vehemently about.

I will share more next week (once I’m more settled into the new apartment and have steady wi-fi). Right now I’m averaging ~4 cups of coffee a day. But I will say this: Though sleepless and still transitioning from my beloved work with SeeSparkGo and Brian Solis, I am supremely happy:)
And no amount of Philz or Sightglass coffee could make that happen.
